Born in upstate New York, I was drawn to photography by the natural beauty of the Adirondak Mountains. I became serious about taking pictures at Colgate University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1977. After college, I continued studying photography at Skidmore College's University Without Walls and at the Maine Photo Workshop.

My first job in photography brought me to the Washington, D.C.,area as the racetrack photographer at Rosecroft Raceway. Not an especially creative assignment, but it paid the bills.

More importantly, it got me started as a professional, taught me a lot about delivering under pressure and provided the motivation to open my own studio ... which I did in 1990.

Today, I shoot mostly for associations, corporations, public relations firms and design studios. My work appears in annual reports, magazines, newsletters, catalogs, point-of-purchase displays, brochures, trade show exhibits and, of course, the World Wide Web.

Among my more interesting recent assignments: executive makeover photos in the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives Executive Update; interior and exterior photos of the Maryland Biotechnology Institute; floral still-life studio photography for prepaid calling cards; and coverage of First Ladies Barbara Bush, Rosalynn Carter at the Kennedy Center.

I spend a fair amount of time covering events on Capitol Hill and the back of my head can frequently be seen on C-SPAN telecasts..
